SCHOOL
PROGRAMS
The Moraine
Learning Centre at Puck’s Farm gives
students the opportunity to discover and explore nature firsthand.
Students
are encouraged to use all their senses, and their powers of observation and
concentration to understand the natural world.
Students
are shown how to distinguish between living and non-living things and to
appreciate and respect their natural environment.
They
learn about the cycles of nature in the meadow, pond and woodland and about the
flora and fauna that live there.
All
of this takes place on the Oak Ridges Moraine, a 12,000 year-old glacial feature
that plays an important role in the lives of people from Toronto to Barrie and
from Caledon to Peterborough.
The
moraine's treasures of native plants, birds and animals depend on us to care for
their natural habitats.
The
programs help students develop an appreciation for nature and our environment.
They learn
how nature affects their lives and how their actions affect the natural world.
